The Big Lou/ Big Mike golf tournament was a famously fun community golf tournament that had not been played in 10 years! We revived it and made it extra special by having celebrity guest comedian Carlos Mencia come out and play! Milam's Market was our main sponsor including a donation of a 140 lb pig which we cooked in a caja china and was delicious! The day was sunny and beautiful could not have asked for better weather especially during these rainy summer days. Everyone had a blast! Thanks to Carlos Mencia for his support, a big thank you to AJ from Milam's Market, Roxana Garciga at Republic National Distributing Company, Miami Springs Mayor Zavier Garcia, Virginia Gardens Mayor Spencer Deno, Councilman Grace Bain and The Miami Springs Optimist Club for cooking and the after-party venue!

Message From Marli Holday Party......On December 17th, Message From Marli Foundation hosted a unique holiday party to give special thanks to all of its supporters, co-promoting it with Dolphin Digest and Miami Executive Aviation. The canopy space at Opa Locka airport made for the uniqueness of the event. Guests walked outside to an event space which resembled a 50’s diner. Sleek silver furniture, private jets on display and for tour, and beautiful classic cars were sprawled on the tarmac. A delicious spread of finger foods was provided by the Jet Runway Cafe and Silver Lining Catering, a restaurant and catering service for private jets. Uncle Al’s Cafe in Weston had five different flavors of their famous wings for everyone to enjoy. Its famous tailgate truck with flat screens also made an appearance playing sports games all day and entertaining guests to Christmas music. Free flowing cocktails were provided by Republic National Distributing Company. A celebrity guest appearance was made by world famous aviator Patty Wagstaff, whose plane hangs in the Smithsonian. We had an outstanding night celebrating our 1st year anniversary of the Message From Marli Foundation!
Marli went to midfield along with Melanie and did the ceremonial "kick off." NHS members and soccer players from Ronald Reagan/Doral and Miami Springs Senior High School volunteered to come out and hand out MFM info cards to the 800+ spectators that attended the game. We had a great bar-b-cue sponsored by the FIU athletic program and everyone had a great time.
Special thank you to FIU Assistant Athletic Director Julie Berg and FIU Men's Head Soccer Coach Munga Eketebi for hosting such a great evening and supporting the foundation from our inception!!

The girls were getting haircuts in order for wigs to be made for women with all different types of cancer. Marlene spoke to the ladies about her battle and how the strength of her faith keeps her going!

The weather cooperated Saturday for Tom's NFL 1:00 tee-off after some morning showers. The turnout was excellent considering the unstable weather and excessive heat. 62 golfers came out and supported the cause. Lots of spirits were consumed thanks to Republic National Distributing Company and Tom's NFL. Everyone had a great time. The party afterwards was held at Tom's NFL and went on late into the evening.
A successful MFM event and special thanks to all who helped put it on!

Tom's NFL hosted the 1st annual Message From Marli Dolphin Fishing Tourney. Kevin Hume donated the private room for the Captains Party and the fish fry. A great venue, serving up the Best Wings in South Florida once again at the Captains Party. The captain's party was insane!
1st Place Aggregate was FIU/DZ Events, captained by Leo Villar, which won $3,000 cash and prizes.
2nd Place was the Miami Springs Optimist Club which won $1,000 cash and prizes. They donated the cash portion back to the foundation!

As you can see by the pictures, it was a gorgeous day out at Miami Yacht Club for our Domino Tournament. Mr. Paella went to town with a delicious seafood paella. Antonio Madruga and his latin jazz band played throughout the day. Everyone raved about both the paella and the band. Ernesto and his domino associates ran the domino tournament. They were outstanding at getting everyone to participate and teaching beginners how to play with the big boys! Marli, Melanie, Mason, and Mia had a great day in the MYC swimming pool as well.

A hugely successful event at Smoke on the Water thanks to all of our sponsors and participants. A special thank you to Robinson Brown IV of Brown-Forman, our "Anchor Sponsor" for the event, and Midtown Athletic Club for being a sponsor and helping with all the logistics for the event. Thanks to Michele, Louis, and Dan of Smoke on the Water for providing such a great venue and support for the event. Lastly, thank you to MFM Advisory board member David Lister for everything he did. Besides his law firm financial support, he provided his physical BRAWN by helping move the poker table to and from the Florida Marlins training facilty to have tables autographed by Marlins players.
Being that the event was benefitting Ovarian Cancer Awareness, there was much irony in the fact that the only woman entry for the poker tourney was the champion, defeating 74 other men and Midtown Athletic Club Member Alan Gross at the final table! Lori Sadaka promises to come back next year and defend her title. The other charity beneficiary was the Jason Taylor Foundation who played a great role in putting on the event as well. Jason Taylor played in the tournament with other Miami Dolphin players Jeff Cross and Will Allen. The event raised $38,000.00 that will be split between the two foundations.
Friday and Saturday, March 18th-19th, 2011
After an all day St. Patrick's Day Chemo treatment at UMH on Thursday, Marlene went to work on Friday until 5:30 p.m. She came home and changed into fresh clothing and rushed over to the RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT in Miami Springs. As the female honorary survivor, she spoke to the crowd at 6:30 p.m. as part of the opening ceremonies. She then walked and participated in the event all night until 1:00 p.m. the next day!! She spoke to close the ceremonies as well. "The Wolff Pack Team," captained by MFM Advisory Board Member Emily Messina (Marli's Sister from Philadelphia), raised $2,500.00 for the American Cancer Society. Emily, who received her doctorate from Temple University, also volunteers at Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia and was able to get goodies donated from them, which were sold along with Philadelphia pretzels. MFM info cards were also handed out at the event to further raise awareness. Melanie, Mason, Mia, Daniel Messina (Emily's Husband) and Mr. and Mrs. Bruener (Marli's partents) participated and slept in tents as a Wolff Pack team member always stayed on the walking track. The entire Miami Springs/Virginia Gardens chapter of the national event raised over $70,000.00 for the American Cancer Society!!

Breezy day on Saturday March 5th, the ladies of The Miami Lakes Chapter of Zonta Organization had a very successful flea market event benefitting a variety of charities that cater to women. The Midtown staff outdid themselves on Friday evening the 18th. Over 30 members participated and the stationary bikes were set out lakeside at sunset. PERFECT WEATHER.
Saturday, February 12, 2011
Unfortunately the February 12th Bike Ride Event had inclement weather.
Saturday, January 29, 2011
In typical Miami winter fashion, the weather was 70 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. We had 250-300 people attend the walk. The positive demographic statistic of the day was that approximately 175 of the attendees were students from local high schools (Miami Springs Senior/Anchor Club, Ronald Reagan Doral Senior, School for Advanced Studies, Westland High, Blessed Trinity). Our foundation promotes youthful involvement with Marli's Message of early detection of ovarian cancer. This promises a brighter future for our cause and positive statistics going forward involving the disease. The combination of DJ FRANKIE belting out tunes and the youthful attendees made for a high energy day. All attendees promised to get the message out via Facebook and other electronic avenues.
Saturday, January 15, 2011
Chris Caudle turned 40 years old Saturday, January 15. His wife Lourdes (MFM Advisory Board Member) threw the party and in lieu of gifts attendees donated to the Message From Marli Foundation. Chris was roasted in the traditional fashion. He was 4 inches shorter at the end of the night. A great time was had by all including Marli. She had a chemo treatment the Thursday before but that did not stop her from dancing until midnight!
December 12, 2010
The free event was generously hosted by Miami Executive Aviation at Opa Locka Airport. We moved couches and chairs outside and had the DC-7B pulled up with the airstairs and allowing everyone at the party, along with children, the opportunity to have open-access to the aircraft. The added classic cars underneath the aircraft gave it that late 1950's nostalgia. Executive Chef Dana of Smith & Wollensky allowed for some great bites for everyone with his tasty treats. He even made gourmet cupcakes for the children which they devoured. Holiday spirits were provided by Republic National Distributing, and the bartending team of Jaime & Jaime kept everyone from getting thirsty. Lastly, DJ Ceasar kept the music coming.
All who attended were able to sit back and watch airplanes take-off and land from an amazing vantage point. A great time was had by all. Marli and her children enjoyed the company and as always, got reenergized by so much support from everyone.
Country Club Of Miami, December 4th, 8:00 a.m. Tee-off
The weather was perfect and a great time was had by all. Thanks to Republic National Distributing, Tom's NFL, and Jack Daniels Girls for providing all of the thirsty golfers with the beverages. Great thanks to Country Club of Miami (Larry Walker/Tourney Director and J. Poorman/Food and Beverage Director) for their great hospitality at the first annual event. Over $6,000.00 was raised for the foundation.
Medtronic is the leading manufacturer in the world of pacemakers and other cutting-edge medical devices.
MFM Coordinator Claudia Rey, Mason Wolff, Melanie Wolff, and Marc Wolff made two separate presentations to Medtronic salespeople and to Medtronic management regarding Ovarian Cancer and Message From Marli Foundation. Both presentations were based on ADVERSITY and, not if it will happen in your lifetime, but when, and how you will deal with it. The response of both presentations was moving to everyone.
November 19th through Sunday November 21st (9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. each day)
The Wolff Family, along with MFM Event Coordinator Claudia Rey, spent Friday Nov. 19th through Sunday Nov. 21st at the Midtown Athletic Club at Weston handing out literature and free MFM bracelets at the MFM table to all the members who participated. In addition, over $1,000 was raised via a raffle of great gifts that were donated by members, including Miami Heat signed memorabilia and 3 day/2 night hotel stay on Captiva Island, Florida.
Marlene spoke at Lourdes High School at an event spearheaded by Lourdes Student Brianna Perez (Pictured in photo). Thirty four of her fellow Lourdes female students had hair cuts to provide the foundation "locs of love" with hair. Marlene spoke at the event regarding her experience with cancer.
